Geometry sure is interesting. They took a very different direction compared to bikes like the Salsa Warbird. Nice to see the large tire clearance and keeping a round seat post. Always funny to see them ditch tech like the CG-R post, that they previously touted as such a great feature.

Two months ago, bike shops were facing the same challenge as every other business: Stay above water when it seems the whole world is drowning. Many were preparing for a sort of hibernation, including putting a halt to the often huge speculative restocking orders that happen that time of year. For most shops, that hibernation lasted about a week. Then suddenly, bikes started selling like toilet paper, a phenomenon we just recently covered.
Like toilet paper. The interruption overseas was relatively short-lived, and production is back at capacity by now. Most of the western world came into this crisis with the inventory at about normal for this time of year. And time of year is a big factor because the shortage is partly seasonal. The anchor of bike-release season used to be the Interbike trade show in September. But over the years, release dates slowly started creeping up the calendar. Now, some brands tease new high-end bikes as early as Sea Otter in April, with most releases happening in late spring and early summer, hitting the shelves soon after.
The model-year changeovers themselves used to happen differently too. Back in my shop days, I remember filling the shelves with closeout bikes as fall was on the horizon.

Hi everyone, I picked up this Specialized road bike frame, someone has removed all the paint so before I get it painted etc I’d like to ID it. All I know is it’s alluminium, has downtube shifter mounts, was blue. Looks to have the number stamped on the inside of the non drive side dropout. Apparently the serial number on the BB is of no use to identify Specialized bikes, so that’s out.
I’m guessing a mid-nineties Allez of some description but if anyone can be more specific I’d appreciate it. Thanks in advance Our serial numbers are simply put on the bike as an individual ID number that can be provided to law enforcement in the event the bike is stolen. The only way to know for certain which year your bicycle was produced is to use the archive information available on our website. Our online photo and information archive dates back to if your bike is older than that, refer to the instructions at the bottom.
Each model will have a different parts specification and paint job from year to year and about every three years the model will go through a complete frame overhaul. Knowing this you should be able to visually verify the year your bicycle was produced by comparing it with the archived photos and simply use the process of elimination to find your bike. The online archive can be accessed by going to Specialized.
Go to the support section and then select the years as needed.

But then I got distracted trying to take a photo of the new Specialized Tarmac SL7 inside my grocery store in front of a giant Corona stash. All in augmented reality. This basically was integrated with the new Specialized ANGi helmets , which detected crashes. However, the run always had an underlying purpose, which was effectively acting as a hub to plan rides with other people, and act as a sorta-kinda-Strava like thing.
That was when was still kinda new and neat , they launched a partnership with Wahoo that brought ANGi crash detection integration and integration with Wahoo units. Not that you can do that entirely either in the Specialized app.
